Northwest Ag Innovation Hub
Farmers need to be innovative, adaptive, and creative to ensure their competitive advantage in national and international markets. How do we get them the technology to meet that need?
SEDCOR's Northwest Ag Innovation Hub began like many of our other projects and initiatives. We showed up and we listened to those in our region's ag industry. We worked hard to clearly and fully understand the unique challenges they face--from the level of the farm through the rest of the supply chain.
Yes, agriculture is not typically a target industry for economic development nonprofits like SEDCOR. But we recognize our family farms in the Willamette Valley are anything but typical. They are internationally competitive small businesses, yet are not as well supported as their more urban counterparts.
The NW Ag Innovation Hub is a series of programming designed to build an ecosystem of relationships between agriculture, technology, and innovation. Our goal is to keep farmers and farm profitability as the guiding light for everything we do.
We will align efforts from not only businesses and industry squarely within ag, but also from community colleges, four-year institutions, cooperative extensions, other nonprofits, as well as businesses along the Ag Supply Chain including equipment manufacturers, ag retailers, and food processors.
GET PLUGGED IN: JOIN THE REGIONAL FARMER NETWORK
We believe growers deserve a network.
Through our Regional Farmer Network, our team will connect local farmers with startup companies and specialty crop opportunities to test ideas and offer feedback to ultimately increase farm efficiencies and earning power.
Farmers will collaborate with entrepreneurs to test innovative pre-commercial technologies and specialty crops on their farms. Connections forged through the network will create more opportunities for farmers to engage with novel investment models, data monetization, and new production practices.
We believe the best way for tech to help growers is for it to be built by people who take the time to understand growers and the unique realities they face.
The Hub will bring local technologists to growers so they can clearly and fully understand the obstacles growers face.
Through our national partnerships, we will bring technologists from across the country to engage with our remarkable growing region.
The Hub will create a regional culture of innovation and foster growth among ag startups, the Ag Supply Chain, and the entire local economy.
